Create your first survey

There are three ways to create a survey, and none of them is wrong:

• **Start from a template.** Open **Templates** and pick one close to what you need — customer feedback, product research, employee pulse, and more. Every template is built on research best practice, and everything in it is editable.
• **Use the guided wizard.** From the dashboard, choose the guided setup. It asks what you want to learn and builds a draft survey around your goal.
• **Start from scratch.** Create an empty survey and add questions one at a time in the builder.

Whichever you choose, you land in the survey builder. Add questions from the left panel, reorder them by dragging, and use the preview to see exactly what respondents will see.

A survey stays in **draft** until you publish it — you can edit freely and nothing is visible to anyone else. When it reads the way you want, see [Publish and share your survey](/help/publish-and-share-your-survey).
